Cargo Trailer Tires 101

You’ve Got Options

While it’s certainly not the most exciting blog you’ll read today, it just may be the most helpful if you’re looking to complete your cargo trailer with the most essential travel element—the wheels. Just as you would consider the door type, the tie-downs, and the exterior color on your enclosed trailer, there are many options (and extras) to consider when it comes to the tires. Here are a few to mull over…

Spare Tires

No one’s above an unforeseen accident, like say, a flat tire. And if you use your cargo trailer as much as we do, it’s bound to happen at one point or another. So, a spare tire (and place to store it) is essential if you want to keep hauling without delays. For Pace trailer owners, there are a few accessories to keep in mind, like a convenient interior spare tire bracket that straps the spare to the wall and out of the way.

Or, if you’re really looking to maximize space, there’s also an exterior spare tire mount and in-floor spare tire compartment to consider.

Covers and Caps

Sure, your wheels are meant to hit the road, but that doesn’t mean you should let them get dirtied up just for the sake of it. Tire covers keep your spare tires (or those in storage) protected from harmful elements until they’re ready for use again. Likewise, center caps are stylish covers that are placed over the rim’s exposed bolts to give you an extra bit of presentation when it comes to your enclosed trailer.

Rims

Let’s be honest; rims are the coolest part of tire buying. Not only do they make a statement, but they also help complete the look you’re going for. If that’s your thing, of course. Because while there are hyper-stylized designs like Turismo and Summit to consider, Pace trailer owners can find simple black and white rims, too. We’re kind of partial to the gunmetal options, ourselves.

No matter what you’re looking for, customizing your trailer’s wheels to reflect the payload has its perks. For instance, classic car enthusiasts who use an enclosed car trailer can show up to their next trade show with extra style before ever opening the doors. After all, first impressions can matter. And, businesses (lawn care, concession owners, etc.) can match the wheels to their brand colors and really make their company stand out.

Wheel Chocks

Okay, this last one’s not for the tires on your trailer, but for the tires of the rides, you may be bringing along. Integrated into the floor or attached and removable, these chocks help ensure your toys don’t move about in the trailer by simply making space for the tire to securely sit within. However, that still doesn’t mean you should skip the tie-downs.
